I’m mum-shamed for palming my baby off on other people so I can spend time with myself – I’m just setting a good example
BEING a parent is a full-time job but for most it doesn’t even come with a lunch break.
But mum-of-one Courtney Howard has made sure to prioritise her alone time even after having her daughter, and it seems the trolls are hating it.
The US-based mum hit back at meanies in a TikTok video, claiming she was setting a good example for her daughter.
The comment Courtney replied to came from a stay-at-home mum herself, who wasn’t impressed Courtney takes her 13-month old to nursery.
She wrote: “Crazy I had 2 baby girls and quit my full time big dollar job to be a stay at home mum.
“Never did day care to pamper myself.”
But Courtney wasn’t going to let the comment slide and hit back in a video where she filmed herself working out.
The mum replied: “I may send my daughter to day care and my prioritise my mental and physical health.
“But I’ve got a little girl watching what I do, and I want to show her how strong women act/take care of themselves.
“Otherwise, she might end up in her 40s with no self confidence… mom-shaming on the internet, disrespectfully.”
“WE DONT MOM SHAME AROUND HERE. Don’t let ANYONE tell you what your motherhood should look like.
“You do what works for YOU and your family. Nobody else matter,” Courtney captioned the post.
The video posted to her account @courtneyahoward has since gone viral with over 195k views and over 18k likes.
People were quick to share their thoughts in the comments and praised the mum for continuing to prioritise herself even with a baby.
One person wrote: “Normalize Moms doing whatever it takes for her to be a healthy whole human being for herself & her family!”
Another commented: “I just knewww someone was going to say something about that. If she’s jealous she can just say that.”
“They want mothers to not have anything else but motherhood so badly,” penned a third.
Meanwhile a fourth said: “Damn right. If you don’t take care of yourself, you can’t take care of others.”
“Yes! Prioritize the self care girl,” claimed a fifth.
Someone else added: “YOU ARE SMART – I stayed home and neglected myself. I drove myself nuts. As Nannie’s just text – so day care was so smart!”
