A HEARTBROKEN mum has told how she collapsed in her husband’s arms after being told her daughter had been found suspected murdered.

Colette Law, 26, from Greenock, was discovered outside of St Mary and St Nicholas Church in Spalding, Lincolnshire, at 9pm on July 17.

Devastated mum Patricia Law, 63,  and husband John, 64, retired, were left distraught when cops arrived at their home and told them Colette had been found dead.

The heartbroken care worker told the Scottish Sun: “We just got told on Tuesday morning.

“We are in shock. For the police to come to our door when we got home from work to tell us that she was found dead in a tent.

“We didn’t feel anything. We just collapsed. Oh I want her up here as of now. We just want to move on from this – now and just do a good deed for her – and give her a good send off.

“You don’t want to bury your son or daughter. We are 60 odd. We don’t want to bury any of them. They should be burying us.”

Mrs Law said Colette had moved to  Spalding at the end of May and had been living rough since moving down south as she was unable to get accommodation.

Mrs Law said before she moved her daughter had a love for singing and an infectious laugh.

She added: “She loved karaoke. She used to love to sing. She would sing anything and everywhere. When she would come out with us; she was the first one on the dance floor.

“She had a very infectious laugh. You would laugh with her even if you were in a bad mood. Her dancing used to make you laugh.
“She applied for the X-Factor twice.

“She went once by herself and the second time with her friend. She got knocked back; she just bottled it twice. She could not sing so she never got through the first round but she did try.”

She added: “We are going to miss her going to karaoke and listening to her songs and there are quite a lot of them and that is going to hit me right there.”

The family were awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination.

Detective Inspector Richard Nethercott, of Lincolnshire Police, said: “We send our condolences to the family and friends of Colette, they are very much in our thoughts as we carry out our investigation.

“I know this tragic death will be unsettling. We are working hard to investigate the full circumstances to understand how Colette has died.

“I would like to thank the local community for their help so far and appeal for anyone who has any information that will assist our investigation to get in touch.”

He urged anyone who had seen Colette between July 12 and July 17 to contact police to help them ‘build a picture of her movements the days before she sadly died’.

Police confirmed a 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murdering a woman and remains in custody.
