BBC Breakfast’s Carol Kirkwood lifts lid on ‘unexpected’ engagement in rare tribute to ‘perfect & very handsome’ fiancé
BBC Breakfast’s Carol Kirkwood has lifted the lid on her ‘unexpected’ engagement in rare tribute to her ‘perfect & very handsome’ fiancé.
The popular weather lady revealed her engagement to fiance Steve Randall in May last year.
Despite the announcement, the couple like to keep their relationship relatively on the down low, but Carol, 61, has opened up about their romance in a new interview.
She said: “We were friends before we became romantically involved so we knew each other quite well before we started dating.
“That was nice because it just kind of happened.”
She continued to Closer Magazine: “Neither of us were looking for romance and there it was, it just evolves. It’s so lovely.
“Who’d have thought that at this ripe old age, I’d be getting married again? I certainly didn’t.”
She then sung the praises of her future husband, revealing: “My fiancé is very handsome. He’s very kind and caring and he makes me laugh.
“Steve’s a good cook too. He’s all I could ever want. In my eyes he’s perfect.”
The couple started dating in 2021 before Steve, 48, popped the question last Spring.
Carol was previously married to first husband, cricket player Jimmy Kirkwood, from 1990 to 2008.
Carol announced the news of her engagement to former police officer Steve live on BBC Breakfast while presenting the weather from the Chelsea Flower Show.
BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One.
