A Russian fighter jet allegedly fired flares and flew within several metres of a US drone over Syria, striking and damaging the aircraft, according to the US military, calling the move unprofessional and unprovoked. The action comes just one week after a Russian fighter jet put the lives of four American crew members in danger by flying dangerously close to a US surveillance aircraft in the area.
