SMALL BITES: Best farmers’ market in the U.S.? West Palm Beach GreenMarket…again!

The people have spoken … presumably with their mouths full.
For a third consecutive year the West Palm Beach GreenMarket has been named the “Best Farmers Market” by USA Today’s 10-Best Readers’ Choice Poll.
Among the superlatives mentioned are the market’s influences by European public markets, the numerous vendors and the dazzlingly beautiful location, downtown alongside the Intracoastal Waterway.
“We are honored to be once again named the ‘Best Farmers Market’ in the country,” said West Palm Beach Mayor Keith A. James. “We are grateful to our community for making this possible, especially those who participate and support our market week after week, including our vendors, sponsors, and marketgoers. I’d also like to thank our community events division for putting together such an impressive market year after year.”
First USA Today had a panel of food and travel experts rank their top 20 farmers markets, then the readers voted on best of the best. West Palm Beach was the only Florida market to make it in the top 20 list.
By the way, the GreenMarket was also named the No. 1 green market in Florida by Cooking Light magazine.
EXTRA TIDBIT
And even though the GreenMarket wrapped its 28th season in April, with more than 110 vendors, you can still get a taste during the summer with pop-up mini-markets.
Nicknamed “The Mini,” these run during Clematis by Night from 6-9 p.m. on Thursdays through Aug. 31. The full GreenMarket starts again in October.
