The Nation's Weather for Wednesday, August 16, 2023
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
Drenching showers and locally gusty thunderstorms will
linger in the southeastern corner of the nation today. A few
showers will erupt in the cooler air over New England and
the central Appalachians. A new crop of severe thunderstorms
is expected to occur over parts of Minnesota and advance
across portions of Wisconsin and northern Michigan. As
extreme heat holds on in much of Texas, some cooler and less
humid air will sprawl over the Great Lakes and the middle
and upper Mississippi Valley, as well as the interior
Southeast. A few thunderstorms will erupt over the interior
Southwest. Most, but not all, of the Southwest storms are
likely to occur over the mountains from Colorado and New
Mexico to California. Another hot day is in store for the
Northwest ahead of a cooldown.
