The Nation's Weather for Thursday, September 21, 2023
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
An area of high pressure off the mid-Atlantic coast will
continue to allow dry weather to persist from southern New
England into the Tennessee Valley and Carolinas for today.
However, farther south, a stalled front across the Florida
Peninsula will generate rounds of showers and thunderstorms
across much of the state, leading to localized flooding. A
storm moving through the Intermountain West will also
produce showers, thunderstorms and even some steadier rain
that could be heavy at times. Thunderstorms from this system
will spread into parts of northern Minnesota. Meanwhile,
much of the Southwest will stay dry with the exception of
thunderstorms in eastern New Mexico. Some storms could be
strong to severe and bring gusty winds and hail.
