NATIONAL SUMMARY
Ophelia will bring flooding rain and locally damaging winds
from eastern Virginia through southern Vermont and New
Hampshire today. As the storm continues to move inland, it
will further lose wind intensity, but heavy rain will
continue to impact areas across southern New England into
tonight. A swath of sunshine is in store from eastern Ohio
through northern Florida as a large storm system and
trailing cold front trigger a zone of thunderstorms over
the Great Plains and South Central region. Some of the
storms will be severe from Oklahoma and Arkansas through
central Texas and can bring hail and isolated tornadoes.
Rain will fall to the north of the severe weather, mainly
over the Dakotas, central and northern Minnesota and
western Wisconsin. Much of the West will be dry.
