A search is underway for three people caught in an avalanche in the Idaho back country. Authorities in Shoshone County say the avalanche was recorded Thursday near Stevens Peak near the Montana border. The Air Force is helping with search and rescue efforts. The area has been under an avalanche danger warning for several days because of snowfall and blowing winds that have created unstable conditions on high, steep slopes. The Idaho search comes a day after an avalanche hit a ski resort near Lake Tahoe in California, trapping several people and killing one. A second avalanche hit nearby on Thursday in the area but didn't cause any casualties.
