Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels are still able to launch attacks on shipping despite a month of U.S.-led airstrikes. This week they seriously damaged a ship in a crucial Red Sea corridor and apparently downed an American drone worth tens of millions of dollars. The Houthis claimed more attacks Tuesday night in support of Hamas amid Israel’s war in the Gaza Strip. Meanwhile, U.S.-led efforts to thwart the guerrilla attacks on shipping have boosted the rebels’ standing in the Arab world. Analysts warn of greater risks to the global economy the longer their attacks go on.
