Israeli airstrikes have killed at least 48 people in southern and central Gaza overnight, half of them women and children. That's according to Gaza health officails. Also Thursday, European foreign ministers stepped up calls for a cease-fire with alarm rising over the worsening humanitarian crisis and potential starvation in the Gaza Strip. Israeli police say three gunmen opened fire on the road near a checkpoint in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, killing one Israeli and wounding at least five, as violence persists in the territory. The war erupted after Hamas’ deadly Oct. 7 attack into Israel. Gaza’s Health Ministry estimates more than 29,000 Palestinians have been killed.
