US Postal Service plans to downsize a mail hub in Nevada. What does that mean for mail-in ballots?

0
A U.S. Postal Service plan to downsize a regional mail hub in Reno and move package and letter processing to Sacramento, California, has officials in Nevada worried about delays and mail-in ballot handling. A bipartisan trio of Nevada congressional delegates are among those who say mail service would be snarled by the hours-long roundtrip drive over the Sierra Nevada. Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar says processing ballots in California before returning them over the snowy mountains to be counted in Nevada would “unquestionably” affect election results. A Postal Service spokesperson says plans aren't final but that Nevada mail still would be delivered within two days.
