NATIONAL SUMMARY
As a storm exits by way of the Atlantic Ocean, the heaviest
rain will end for many in the Northeast today. However,
clouds, spotty showers and pockets of drizzle will linger
from eastern North Carolina to Maine. The rest of the
Southeast of the Southeast is forecast to be free of rain.
As a storm takes shape over the South Central states,
showers and severe thunderstorms will erupt later in the
afternoon from western Oklahoma to central Texas and then
closer to Arkansas at night, with large hail, damaging winds
and even some tornadoes possible. A zone of more general
rain and thunderstorms will extend as far north and east as
Iowa and Missouri, with the risk of heavy snow in western
Nebraska. The Northwest will be largely dry as areas of rain
and snow track across the Southwest.
