Wisconsin Republicans fire eight more Evers appointees, including regents and judicial watchdogs

0
Republicans who control the state Senate have fired eight more of Democratic Gov. Tony Evers' appointees, including two Universities of Wisconsin regents who voted against a deal that limited campus diversity efforts. The Senate voted Tuesday to reject confirming regents Dana Wachs and John Miller. Both voted twice in December to reject a deal UW officials brokered with Assembly Speaker Robin Vos that called for limiting diversity work in exchange for funding for building projects and staff raises. The Senate also rejected confirmation for four members of the state judicial commission, a member of the deferred compensation commission and a member of the governor's domestic abuse council. Senate Republicans have now fired 21 Evers appointees.
