Pittsburgh officials say more than two dozen river barges broke loose from their moorings and floated down the Ohio River, damaging a marina and striking a bridge. Pittsburgh Public Safety says police, fire and emergency medical services responded late Friday. State transportation officials said one bridge was struck by a barge just before 2 p.m. Saturday. The bridge had been closed preemptively and will require an inspection before reopening. There were no reports of injuries. Most of the barges were loaded with dried cargo. The area had been hit by flooding after heavy rains Thursday.
