Vice President Kamala Harris is suddenly being thrust into the most scrutinizing of spotlights as she becomes, for now, the leading candidate to succeed President Joe Biden as the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee. She spoke multiple times with Biden on Sunday, and after Biden's announcement, Harris released her own statement, making it clear she knew the nomination would not just be handed to her. Then she quickly got to work. She spent much of Sunday afternoon calling Democratic elected officials and delegates as she works to lock up her party’s nomination. But she still has her day job, with a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on tap later this week.
