NATIONAL SUMMARY
Afternoon and evening thunderstorms around the Great Lakes
region can produce localized damaging wind gusts, hail and
flash flooding today. Spotty afternoon thunderstorms may
occur from Minnesota to New Mexico. Hot and mainly rain-free
weather will continue across the Mississippi and Ohio
valleys as well as the mid-Atlantic. It will be humid along
the Southeast and Gulf coasts, and spotty afternoon
thunderstorms could develop. Meanwhile, hot weather will
return to the West where it will be primarily dry with
abundant sunshine. To the north, it will be cool and breezy
with occasional showers across the Pacific Northwest. The
interior Northwest will be turning warmer with a steady
breeze and an afternoon thundershower in the high terrain.
Elsewhere, New England will be dry and pleasant.
