Hot streak continues with convincing Levens win

Royal Wootton Bassett Town made it six games unbeaten in the Hellenic League Premier Division with an emphatic home win against Longlevens.

And Sam Collier's side continued their free scoring ways as they racked up a 4-1 victory - taking their tally of goals in their last four league games to 17.

Bassett led early when leading top scorer Alfie Presley powered a header home from a Brad Pagliaroli free kick.

The pair then combined for Bassett's second midway through the half, a beat give-and-go setting free Pagliaroli who fired into the bottom corner from a tight angle.

A comfortable lead was extended even further shortly before the break when another dangerous Pagliaroli set piece delivery was met at the far post by Ollie Case who headed home.

Pagliaroli would again be involved in Bassett's fourth shortly after the restart. His cross into the box eventually fell to captain Adam Corcoran who stabbed a left foot finish into the back of the net.

Longlevens were well and truly out of the game at this point - and their afternoon got worse when Rob Perry was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Shaun O'Connor did grab what would be nothing more than a consolation goal shortly after the hour.

While missing out on a clean sheet may have slightly annoyed Bassett boss Collier, overall this was another excellent afternoon's work.

Although sitting in tenth, Bassett have clawed themselves to within three points of the playoff places.

After a testing start to the season, Bassett now enter the autumn where they want to be - and that's firmly in the playoff mix.
