Meadow is coming up on 10 years living in New York, and he’s still adrift. While rushing to catch the plane to visit his parents in Shanghai, Meadow finds a mysterious book written by someone with his same name. As he reads it, he finds uncanny parallels with his life. Jumping around in time, author Mike Fu slowly reveals Meadow’s history, which largely revolves around existential dread quieted by a constant stream of parties and benders. Donna Edwards of The Associated Press says “Masquerade” is a meandering, surreal, and unsettling search for identity. Fu's debut novel is scheduled for release on Tusay from Tin House.
