Starmer said Tuesday the government must answer “tough questions” about how authorities failed to stop a violence-obsessed teenager before he stabbed the girls to death. The prime minister said a public inquiry would tackle failings in the case. Axel Rudakubana unexpectedly changed his pleas to guilty on the first day of his trial Monday. He is due to be sentenced Thursday. The plea meant some information previously not disclosed was shared, including that he was referred to an anti-extremist program three times and multiple state agencies failed to spot the danger he posed.
