The Wisconsin Supreme Court has declined to immediately hear a case that seeks to restore collective bargaining rights lost that tens of thousands of teachers, nurses and other public workers lost in 2011. The court on Wednesday declined a request from unions to hear the case before a lower appeals court does. The Wisconsin Supreme Court has already thrown out Republican-drawn legislative maps and is weighing a challenge to the state’s 1849 abortion ban. The union case also comes amid the backdrop of an April 1 election that will determine whether the court remains under liberal control.
