Authorities in Alaska say they will attempt Thursday to reach the site of an avalanche that trapped three skiers earlier this week. The skiers are believed to have died in the Tuesday avalanche. Poor weather Wednesday prevented Alaska State Troopers, avalanche experts and recovery teams from reaching the backcountry site south of Anchorage. The avalanche occurred after a helicopter delivered the skiers to a peak in the Chugach Mountains. The three were caught in the avalanche and estimated to be under at least 30 feet of snow. Alaska State Troopers released the identities of the three missing men caught in the slide as Dave Linder of Florida; Charles Eppard of Montana, and Jeremy Leif of Minnesota.
