As Israeli bombs fell, wounded children overwhelmed this Gaza hospital. Dozens died
When Israel unleashed a wave of bombardment this week, shattering Gaza's ceasefire, a hospital in the southern city of Khan Younis was overwhelmed with wounded children. Doctors at Nasser Hospital describe to the Associated Press the chaos of dealing with the flood of hundreds of wounded of all ages. They piled kids two or three at a time onto gurneys to be sped to surgery. Some died later in intensive care, where antibiotics were in short supply. Gaza's Health Ministry said Israel's surprise attack on Tuesday killed 409 people, including 173 children and 88 women. About one out of every four of those children died at Nasser Hospital.
