Italy’s main trade union confederation is backing the prosecution of a farm owner over the death of a migrant worker from India who bled to death after his arm was cut off. Prosecutors accuse Antonello Lovato of abandoning Satnam Singh following the accident involving farm machinery and failing to call an ambulance. Lovato, 39, told the court on Tuesday that "he lost his head" when he saw Singh bleeding. ”I wasn’t myself. I didn’t want him to die,'' he said. CGIL union head Maurizio Landini, speaking outside the court, said it was joining the prosecution as a civil complainant.
