Toyota has reported its net profit fell 7% from a year earlier in April-September as President Donald Trump’s tariffs slammed Japanese automakers. Toyota said Wednesday that its net profit for the fiscal first half was 1.77 trillion yen, or $11.5 billion, down from 1.9 trillion yen in the same period of 2024. Although higher tariffs on autos and auto parts hurt its business, Toyota said its sales continued to grow in the U.S. and in Japan. The maker of the Camry sedan and Lexus luxury models lifted its net profit forecast for the full fiscal year that ends in March 2026 to 2.93 trillion yen, or $19 billion. Toyota earned 4.77 trillion yen in the last fiscal year.
