The Supreme Court is reviving a Republican challenge to a law allowing the counting of late-arriving mail ballots, a target of President Donald Trump. The high court majority ruled Wednesday that candidates can sue over voting-counting rules, even if they haven’t shown a clear effect on the outcome of the race. The state had argued that allowing the lawsuit by Rep. Mike Bost of Illinois would open the floodgates for more election litigation. Bost argued that vote-total considerations shouldn’t affect his ability to come to court. The court didn't rule on late-arriving mail-in ballots directly, but the court will soon hear another case on that broader issue.
