Truck drivers from Balkan countries outside the EU have blocked cargo border crossings to protest the recent enforcement of EU entry regulations. On Monday, long lines of trucks formed at freight crossings in Bosnia, Serbia, North Macedonia, and Montenegro. The blockade also included the Adriatic Sea port of Bar in Montenegro. The new electronic entry and exit system, launched in October, has meant more strict enforcement of rules on non-EU citizens, allowing only 90 days in the Schengen Area within 180 days. Drivers say this limits their work, and they are demanding exemptions. Serbia's Prime Minister warned the issue could paralyze regional transportation companies.
