The U.S.-led coalition against the Islamic State group has welcomed Syria as its 90th member. Representatives from Syria — which officially joined the global coalition in November — attended a meeting on Monday in Saudi Arabia. “Syria’s participation...marks a new chapter in collective security,” Tom Barrack, the U.S. envoy to Syria, said on Tuesday. The coalition's priorities include transferring IS detainees to Iraq and repatriating families linked to IS from camps in Syria, where government forces recently agreed a ceasefire with the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces. Coalition members are ready to work closely with the Syrian government and encourage support for Syrian and Iraqi efforts.
