The former police chief in New Haven, Connecticut, faces larceny charges after officials say he stole money from police department funds. Karl Jacobson turned himself in on a warrant Friday and then posted a $150,000 bond. Prosecutors say New Haven reported the case on Jan. 5, and state police opened an investigation after $81,500 was discovered missing from a narcotics enforcement fund. That fund pays confidential drug informants. Prosecutors also say two checks worth $4,000 were embezzled from a youth program fund. Investigators say bank records link the deposits to Jacobson’s personal account.
