President Donald Trump’s latest threat hit a new extreme Tuesday as he said, “A whole civilization will die tonight,” if his terms were not met. Trump’s intensifying warnings of widespread and seemingly indiscriminate destruction have raised questions about whether the president of the United States is threatening actions that could be considered war crimes, whether he is considering using a nuclear weapon or whether any of it is bluster.
