President Duterte yesterday encouraged and challenged members of the Philippine delegation to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to do their best for the honor of the country. “The President wishes and challenges our Philippine contingent to give 100 percent and he wishes them the best,” said presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella on Saturday. The Philippine team is composed of 13 athletes led by table tennis player Ian Lariba, who was the flag bearer at the spectacular opening festivities Friday evening (Saturday morning in Manila). The Olympics will run through August 20. The Filipino athletes hope to end the Philippines’ 20-year medal drought in the quadrennial games.
