Caliwan, Philippine News Agency MANILA, Aug. 16 — The Supreme Court (SC) announced on Tuesday its refusal to accept the resignation of one of the judges who intend to quit from his post after being named by President Rodrigo Duterte as involved in the illegal drug trade in the country. In a press conference held, SC spokesman Theodore Te said Judge Exequil Dagala of the Municipal Trial Court of Dapa-Socorro in Siargao island, Surigao has submitted his resignation to Court Administrator Jose Midas Marquez last Aug. 8, but the high court turned down his resignation. “The resignation was not accepted by the Court because the judge, prior to his being named by the President, was already being investigated in connection with other offenses,” Te told reporters, adding that the previous offenses being investigated were administrative in nature.
