Alicia Henry, associate professor of art at Fisk University has been named the 2016 recipient of the 1858 Prize for Southern Contemporary Art, administered by Society 1858 of the Gibbes Museum of Art. The 1858 Prize includes a $10,000 award and is presented annually to an artist who contributes to a new understanding of art in the South.
