Student arrested after gun found in backpack

APOPKA, Fla. (AP) — A central Florida high school was placed on lockdown after authorities reported finding a gun in a student's backpack. The Orlando Sentinel (http://goo.gl/ePQme2) reports that deputies arrested a 17-year-old student Tuesday afternoon at Wekiva High School near Apopka. Principal Michele Erickson said in a recorded message to parents that another student saw the gun and told an adult. No injuries were reported.
