Boeing to cut commercial airplane workforce

Giants, Belt avoid arbitration with one-year agreement

For the second year in a row, the Giants and first baseman Brandon Belt reached agreement on a one-year, $6.2 million contract the day they were supposed to go to an arbitration hearing. The settlement is $200,000 below the midpoint between the $5.3 million the Giants offered and the $7.5 million that Belt requested, a relatively huge gulf in baseball arbitration filings.
