Visa shares down 6% as company warns of weak spending

Visa Inc. on Thursday reported net income of $1.7 billion, or 71 cents a share, in the fiscal second quarter, compared with 63 cents a share in the year-ago period. Adjusting for one-time items, Visa reported net income of $1.6 billion, or 68 cents a share, in the quarter. Sales hit $3.6 billion in the quarter, from $3.1 billion a year ago. ABC is ending its partnership with Fusion

Univision has taken full ownership of the television channel and digital media property, Fusion.

In a deal expected to close soon, Univision Communications Inc. bought out ABC's shares in Fusion -- which they co-founded in October 2013.

In turn, Univision will create the Fusion Media Group, which will include Fusion, El Rey, as well as The Root, The Onion, A.V. Club, Clickhole, Starwipe, Flama, Univision Digital and Univision Music.

Google stock plunges as quarterly earnings miss

Shares of Alphabet Inc. tumbled 6.5% in after-hours trade Thursday after the company reported much weaker-than-expected quarterly earnings. The company reported net income of $5.3 billion versus $4.5 billion last year, an increase of 26%. However, adjusted earnings per share were $7.50, below the FactSet consensus estimate of $7.96. Revenue rose 17% to $20.3 billion, compared with $17.3 billion last year, topping the Wall Street estimate of $16.6 billion.
