Utah is seven games under .500 overall but is tied with Washington for first place at 11-7. Pitching and defense might be the hallmarks of winners, but they haven’t translated into excellence for the Cardinal (21-18, 8-10 Pac-12). With just one .300 hitter, junior catcher Alex Dunlap (.315), they’re last in the league in runs and next-to-last in batting at .248.
