The rare world of free people of color
There’s drama inherent in the in-between status of the free people of color in “Safe House,” Keith Josef Adkins’ play set in Kentucky in 1843, and directed by L. Peter Callender for the Aurora. Frank (Lance Gardner) resents being chased out of a creek “like a dog” by their sheriff, while his aunt, Dorcas (Dawn L.
