Mota Singh, UK's first Indian-origin Sikh judge, dies

An Indian-origin Sikh, who became UK's first-ever ethnic minority judge and first to sit on the English Bench wearing a turban instead of a horse-hair wig, has died. In 2010, Mota Singh received a knighthood from the Queen, the highest civilian honour for his services to administration of justice.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans chose not to stand during the National Anthem on Sunday in silent protest of president-elect Donald Trump. 

"I'm not big on politics or anything like that, but I told myself, 'If this happens, America is not right right now,'" Evans said on Sunday after his team's 36-10 win over the Bears. "I said this a long time ago — when he ran, I thought it was a joke. The joke continues."

Kapil Sharma, an electrician who lives in Suncity, Gurgaon started from Gannaur, Sonepat in the morning for Delhi. Due to non-availability of change, he travelled without a ticket till ISBT Kashmere Gate. He then took the metro till Sikanderpur on yellow line and got off at all but a few metro stations looking for cash in the ATMs.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average opened for trading at an all-time high on Monday, and less than 100 points from the round 19,000 level.

The index rose to as high as 18,918.68 shortly after the market opened, extending a rally from last week that took it to a record high. At 9:33 a.m. ET, the Dow is up 36 points (0.19%,) the S&P 500 is up 3 points (0.17%,) and the Nasdaq is unchanged.
