Dodgeville school official launches state superintendent run

(AP) — A Dodgeville school administrator and former employee of the state Department of Public Instruction is running for state superintendent of schools in Wisconsin. John Humphries was joined Tuesday by a Republican state representative and a Democratic former state lawmaker at the launch of his campaign to be the secretary of the Department of Public Instruction.

Owners to spend up to $100M to revitalize Detroit buildings

Firm to lease building after fire, invest $13M, expand by 20

Racist graffiti spray-painted on Spokane MLK Center

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — A racial epithet was spray-painted on Spokane's Martin Luther King Jr. Family Outreach Center. The Spokesman-Review reports ( http://bit.ly/2fWugd5 ) the graffiti was left on the building Monday night and staff found it Tuesday morning. The center provides education, recreation and cultural activities for children and families. ATHENS, Greece (AP) — Greek riot police used tear gas and stun grenades Tuesday in Athens to disperse about 3,000 left-wing marchers protesting a visit by President Barack Obama after they tried to enter an area off-limits to demonstrators. A week after Election Day, North Carolina still doesn't know who will be its next governor.

Despite facing a deficit of 4,500 votes last week, incumbent Pat McCrory refused to concede to Democrat Roy Cooper, insisting they wait on a tally of absentee and provisional ballots.

As the state starts counting those ballots, Cooper's lead has actually grown, and is close to 5,000 as of Tuesday morning.
