Oracle stock soars 11% after showing good progress in its battle in the cloud (ORCL)

Oracle's quarterly profit blew past analysts' estimates as the business software maker's big push towards cloud-based products and services paid off.

In recent after-hours trading on Wednesday, the company's shares were up more than 11 percent to $51.55.

Oracle said cloud-computing and on-premise software business revenue rose 5.3 percent to $8.88 billion in the fourth quarter ended May 31. The business accounted for 78 percent of total revenue for its fiscal 2016.
