Kitty video festival a perfect fit for cat lovers
Henri the cat leads a pampered life — filtered water, gourmet food and plenty of toys.
[...] Henri is one of the most popular animals on the Internet, and his YouTube videos have drawn millions of views.
The celebration featured more than 100 six-second Vine videos, short dramas and documentaries, all featuring cats.
For those without admission, Whisker sour and Cat Nip cocktails, cat astrology readings, a cattoo parlor and cat adoptions were available.
The allure of cats comes from not understanding them, said Joel Shepard, the video curator for the center.
“It’s very touching and funny and fascinating to study these weird creatures’ behavior and think about humans’ very unique relationship with cats,” he said.
[...] it’s wonderful to sit in a theater of people and hear them laughing constantly for an hour and 15 minutes.
Megan Lynn Kott, a temporary watercolor tattoo artist, set up a booth Sunday to ink kittens onto biceps and cheeks.
“Dog lovers have a place where they can interact with each other, whether that’s at the dog park or walking down the street,” she said.
