Kayaking brothers rescued off Marin County shore
Coast Guard crews rescued two brothers kayaking off the Marin County shore Sunday evening after one man’s boat began to sink, forcing him to try to swim to land, officials said.
The siblings were paddling in the Kirby Cove area near Point Diablo about 5 p.m. when one of the kayaks began taking on water, said Lt. j.g. Jake Urrutia, a Coast Guard spokesman.
Officials sent out a helicopter and rescue crew to the scene, where they found one brother in a kayak at Kirby Cove.
Medical personnel treated the brother found in the water for mild hypothermia, Urrutia said.
