Cal forward Ivan Rabb was one of 10 freshmen named to the midseason watch list for the Integris Wayman Tisdale Award, the U.S. Basketball Writers Association announced Monday morning.
Rabb was the only Pac-12 player on the list of candidates for the Wayman Tisdale Award, which honors the nation’s top freshman.
Recent winners of the award include John Wall, Anthony Davis, Jabari Parker and Jahlil Okafor.
Rabb, a former five-star recruit from Oakland, is averaging 12.6 points and 8.4 rebounds per game.
Cal forward Jaylen Brown, who is averaging 15 points and 5.7 rebounds per game, did not make the midseason watch list.
The Wayman Tisdale Award will be presented at the College Basketball Awards gala in Oklahoma City on April 11.
