Landscaper digs up hand grenade in SF garden
A landscaper in San Francisco’s Cole Valley neighborhood dug up a surprise Sunday morning when he unearthed a grenade while working in the garden of a house being prepped for sale, authorities said.
Around 11:15 a.m., police responded to the 100 block of Carl Street, near Cole Street, after the landscaper reported he had found the potentially-explosive device, said Officer Albie Esparza, a police spokesman.
Officials weren’t sure how the grenade came to be buried in the yard and it was unclear whether the item was real or fake, Esparza said.
