Cal gets rare road win after nearly letting it slip away
Brown scored six straight points for the Bears midway through the second half as Cal (18-8, 8-5 Pac-12) picked up its first road victory since winning in overtime at Wyoming on Dec. 5.
The Bears nearly gave it away the final few minutes, missing nine foul shots in the final 1:32.
Marquese Chriss added 17 points for Washington, and Dejounte Murray scored 14 but was 4-for-10 at the free-throw line.
Thybulle hit two free throws for Washington, but the Huskies’ Malik Dime then tried a difficult reverse layup instead of attacking the rim for a dunk that could have cut the Bears’ lead to two.
Chriss’ jumper with 6:53 left snapped a string of seven misses by Washington and was its first field goal in more than six minutes.
