Toronto’s Leo Komarov got a match penalty for elbowing Rangers captain Ryan McDonagh in the head in the first period.
McDonagh returned from a concussion Wednesday after missing four games and sat the rest of Thursday’s game.
Steven Stamkos scored the decisive goal in the fifth round of the shootout for host Tampa Bay, which squandered a three-goal, third-period lead before winning.
