Feds: Long Island prosecutor 'thwarted' politician's probe
MINEOLA, N.Y. (AP) — Federal prosecutors said in a court filing that a Long Island prosecutor "thwarted" efforts to investigate a political leader now facing trial on charges that he was doing party business during hours when he was supposed to be at his job as a commander in the county sheriff's department.
The allegation was made in a pre-trial motion in the federal prosecution of Suffolk County sheriff's lieutenant Edward Walsh, who is also chairman of the Suffolk County Conservative Party
The statement said that on several occasions, DeMarco or his internal affairs investigators either cancelled meetings with the district attorney's office or did not return telephone calls.
