Cold blast to bring 2 feet of snow to Sierra
Cold blast to bring 2 feet of snow to Sierra Widespread rain in the Sierra is expected to turn to flurries this weekend as a blast of cold air hits the mountains, with as much as two feet of snow forecast for higher elevations. The National Weather Service on Friday issued a winter storm watch from Lake Tahoe to western Lassen County, warning of snow as low as 5,500 feet and wind gusts above 45 mph from late Saturday through Monday morning. “We’re going to see a pair of cold fronts coming into California and into Nevada, and this is going to drop the temperatures,” said Chris Smallcomb, a meteorologist with the weather service in Reno.
