Where Chip Kelly is wrong about Colin Kaepernick
The quarterback’s painful performance can be attributed to the pain he endured last season.
“I think people forget about that,” Kelly said last month at the combine.
“It’s not like his skill-set diminished,” Kelly said, via CSN Bay Area. …
Sounds reasonable, right?
Kaepernick was healthy for the season’s first three games before sustaining a left-shoulder injury that was later revealed to be a torn labrum in Week 4 against the Packers.
Kaepernick’s first three starts (healthy): 59 of 91 (64.8), 567 yards, 2 TD, 4 INT, 71.1 QB rating.
Kaepernick’s last five starts (injured): 85 of 152 (55.9), 1,048 yards, 4 TD, 1 INT, 83.4 QB rating.
Six months later, it’s not surprising Kelly is publicly talking up the disgruntled Kaepernick, whom he seems to be genuinely interested in retaining.
